Dolmens, Mounds and Archaeological Remains

In Gorbeia there are traces of human presence since prehistoric times. Dolmens, menhirs, burial mounds and archaeological remains have been discovered that provide evidence of the ancient occupation of the area.

The Kurtzegan menhir in the Arno Mountains has been restored. At 5.40 metres high and weighing seven tons, it is the tallest monolith in the Basque Country and the second tallest in the Iberian Peninsula.

Another splendid menhir is that of Arlobi, which is five metres high and weighs just over 4,000 kilograms.
