Animals
Don't forget to bring your binoculars to see the majestic birds and animals that inhabit the park.
Birds of prey such as the honey buzzard, peregrine falcon, Egyptian vulture and common vulture soar through the skies. In the valleys you can see birds of great beauty such as kingfishers, dippers, lesser blackbirds, goshawks, tawny owls and herons.
Listen to the bellowing of the deer during the rut and keep your eyes open for roe deer, wild boar, martens and ferrets. Wildcats also roam the hills, as do a wide variety of birds, reptiles and amphibians.
The flatter areas are occupied by large meadows for livestock. Countless txabolas and sheepfolds dot the slopes of Gorbeia, reflecting an important pastoral tradition.
The Park Houses -Parketxes- that you will find at the main entrances to both natural parks are a good place to understand the Gorbeia Natural Park in its full dimension.
