Interpretation Centre of Areatza
Make the most of your time visiting this centre and discover all the attractions of the most extensive Natural Park in the Basque Country: Gorbeia.
The Areatza Interpretation Centre, located in a beautiful stone building, has three floors that simulate the ascent to the mythical Gorbeia Cross. Thus, the theme of each of the floors is related to an altitudinal range:
On the ground floor, the subsoil and the lowlands: rivers and riverbanks, the power of water, villages and mowing pastures.
On the first floor, the domain of the forest and its inhabitants. Forestry and geological formations.
On the first floor, the rocky outcrops and their whimsical shapes, the caves and the mountain meadow that leads you to the cross.
The Parketxe de Areatza organises activities such as daytime tourist routes around the Park, including visits to other museums in the area, as well as environmental itineraries through different areas of the Gorbeia Natural Park: Ojo de Atxular and Supelegor cave, Arraba and Kargaleku, the Saldropo Wetland and the Atxuri pass are some of them.
